Vascular Access and Central Lines

Using ultrasound to guide line placement is growing in popularity due to an increasing body of knowledge supporting its efficiency. Ultrasound machines are smaller and lighter, making them portable and convenient for guiding line placement. The machines are also easier to use and clearer images make interpretation more accurate as well. However, hand-eye coordination remains challenging for these procedures.

This problem is remedied by utilizing the ultraStand™ to hold the ultrasound transducer, enabling a clinician to perform the procedure solo utilizing ultrasound guidance and with both hands free to focus on the procedure. By eliminating the need to adjust the probe location relative to the needle, the operator can focus on finding the optimal target image and then placing the line under real-time visual guidance. Doing these steps sequentially eliminates challenging multi-variable proprioception and enables accurate and efficient line placement.
